SUBSEQUENT HISTORY:  On January 10, 1977 she went to National Defense reserve Fleet as the SS Bay, part of 6 ship trade for 4 California Class ships.  In 1981 she became the USNS Vega T-AK286 for the US Navy, converted to Fleet Ballistic Missile Carrier 1982-1983.  April 1, 1998 returned to MARAD and named Kings Bay.  March 30, 1999 scrapped at D & D Steel Inc. Brownsville, Texas for $1000.00.
